Saturday - Coppermine Mountain Bike Event - 10th Anniversary

Race or simply participate - it's up to you.

The Coppermine Mountain Bike Event weaves through some of Nelson's best back country trails and traverses the spectacular Coppermine Mineral Belt and Dun Mountain.

There are two courses to cater for different riding abilities. The Coppermine course is a stunning loop of the Dun Mountain Trail all the way to the mineral belt at Coppermine saddle, where this unique event takes its name from.
The Coppermine Epic course has the extra climb to the top of Fringed Hill (900m) and the amazing native forest singletrack descent of Black Diamond Ridge added to the mix and is suited more to the experienced mountain biker. Both courses descend the Boulder Valley, catering for all abilities, with an incredibly fun and flowing piece of single track.

With a Juliana tent in the event village beside the Matai river, free craft beer and loads of spot prizes there's no reason not to want to take advantage of this organised format to ride the Coppermine in the events 10th year.

Sunday - Rameka (Shuttle) Day Out

We'll jump in our shuttle, so we can rest our legs after yesterday, and our Rameka Day Out starts with a scenic van trip around the Tasman Bay, stopping off for Coffee before driving on up the 980m Takaka hill to Canaan Downs, remembering that what goes up ... must come down!

There will be Hobbitland, farmland and Native bush before we set off on our ultimate 900m descent through the Rameka 6-pack of tracks starting with pristine native bush of the Able Tasman National Park, down into the Pack Track then down the 'Rameka Project' that flows into a long descent through the pine forest that is "Great Expectations" to take us all the way down to the valley floor. But its not over yet! Two optional fun technical tracks called "Two Klick" and "One Klick" will have you going from "Oh Hell" to "Oh Wow" on a regular basis as they try and trick you with their natural surprises.

We finish with a drink stop in Takaka before heading back over the hill to Nelson. If we have time there might be a pleasant surprise on the way.
